Frequently Asked Questions

What does TTFB mean?
TTFB (Time to First Byte) measures how long it takes for the first byte of data to arrive from the server after a request is sent. A good TTFB is under 200ms, and under 800ms is acceptable.
Is this the same as Google PageSpeed Insights?
No. This is a simple server-side speed test that measures raw HTTP response metrics (TTFB, download time, content size). PageSpeed Insights measures client-side rendering performance and Core Web Vitals.
Why is compression important?
Compression (gzip, Brotli) typically reduces HTML, CSS, and JavaScript file sizes by 60-80%. This reduces download time and bandwidth usage. Most web servers support it natively.
What is a good page load time?
For server-side response, under 500ms total is good, under 1 second is acceptable. This does not include client-side rendering time. Actual user-perceived performance depends on many more factors.
