Frequently Asked Questions
What are Open Graph tags?▾
Open Graph (OG) tags are meta tags that control how your content appears when shared on social media. They define the title, description, and image that show in share previews on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and other platforms.
What OG tags should every page have?▾
At minimum, every page should have og:title, og:description, og:image, and og:url. For Twitter, add twitter:card (summary or summary_large_image), twitter:title, and twitter:description.
What size should the og:image be?▾
The recommended Open Graph image size is 1200x630 pixels (1.91:1 ratio). This works well across Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and other platforms. Minimum size is 600x315 pixels.
Why does my share preview look wrong?▾
Social platforms cache OG data. After updating your tags, use each platform's cache clearing tool (e.g., Facebook Sharing Debugger, Twitter Card Validator) to refresh the preview.
How does this tool fetch OG data?▾
Our servers fetch the URL you provide and parse the HTML to extract Open Graph and Twitter Card meta tags. This ensures we see the same tags that social media crawlers see.
What is the difference between og:image and twitter:image?▾
og:image is used by Facebook, LinkedIn, and most platforms. twitter:image is specific to Twitter/X. If twitter:image is not set, Twitter falls back to og:image. It is best to set both.
Can I check pages behind a login?▾
No. The tool can only check publicly accessible URLs. Pages behind authentication or firewalls cannot be reached by our servers.
